AQUAPONICS EXPLAINED
Combining aquaculture with hydroponics

In aquaponics we use the ammonia given off by the fish to create nutrients for the plants. The plants then filter some of those nutrients before the water returns to the fish.

It's a perfectly symbiotic relationship.

Hydroponics is growing plants without soil. By using nutrients dissolved in water you can give the plants everything they need to thrive, outside of sunlight.

Fish

Provides nutrients from uneaten food and waste into water

Plants

Absorb nutrients to grow & clean the water in the process

Bacteria

Transforms fish waste into nutrients that are useful for plants (Ammonia into Nitrates)
